Although their names sound similar, their current intensity, mechanisms of action, and areas of application are quite different. EMS uses current at the milliampere level, which is considered a stronger form of stimulation. Its main feature is to stimulate muscles through physical contraction similar to gentle passive exercise. For this reason, EMS is often used for muscle toning and body sculpting. During this process, muscles consume more ATP (the cell’s energy source). The sensation is usually more noticeable—you may feel twitching or pulsing during use. Because of its higher current intensity, EMS is less commonly used for facial treatments.

MS, on the other hand, operates at the microampere level, with a current intensity much closer to the body’s own bioelectricity. This technology works at a biochemical level of stimulation. It does not consume large amounts of ATP; instead, it helps promote ATP production, supporting cell repair and collagen synthesis. Because the current is very fine and gentle, most people hardly feel any sensation during use—at most, there may be a slight tingling.

 

In terms of application, MS is suitable not only for facial and neck care—such as improving skin tone, fine lines, or puffiness—but is also commonly used in breast care. Gentle microcurrent stimulation can help promote local blood and lymphatic circulation, carrying nutrients and estrogen to the target tissues and providing sufficient nourishment. By activating the cellular environment, MS can assist in supporting breast tissue growth and maintaining skin elasticity and contour in the chest area.
